traumatic events and feet

Isn't he really cute in this hat? I'm glad he doesn't mind wearing it because it makes for some cute pictures.

It was taken a few minutes before he tripped and hit his head on the fireplace resulting in this:

No worries, though. Thanks to his bangs you couldn't see a thing. He had a great time playing outside that day:

Then Dad came home and brought us big drinks from Sonic! We are addicted to Sonic happy hour around here.

Silas had his own traumatic event this past Monday, he had surgery to make him stop hunting down girls. I'm loving the spot where his hair was shaved so they could put in his I.V. I don't even want to think about what kind of horse sedation that had to give him to accomplish that:

I need to write this down to remember: Will is giving a lot of hugs and kisses to his mom and dad lately. It is the sweetest thing! It even makes up for all that whining. And as promised, here is a video of him pointing to his feet. The beginning cuts off a little. I say "Where's your feet?" and then he points to them.

Be back soon!

back in time

Thanks to Ashleigh for taking some candid shots at Will's birthday party and being an awesome friend! Here are a few of my favorites. This was Sept 5th, 2009.

14 months!

Will turned 14 months old today and he had a great day! He got to play with all the other one year olds this morning while I was at MOPS, then dad got to come home after lunch and we all went to My Big Backyard! He got totally soaked at the Raindrop Stop (where it rains every 15 minutes or so):

Other things he has been doing:
-loves all animals, especially his "brother" and the other dogs in the neighborhood, and the monkeys from our trip to the zoo with Grandma this week.
-understands where many things are. I can say "Find me a ball, a vroom vroom, daddy, brother, mommy, your shoes, etc." and he will find them.
-when I say "It's time for a nap" or "Its time to get your diaper changed" he goes straight to his room. If i say "It's time for a bath" he goes straight to the bathroom. Just yesterday, I said "You can have a snack" and he went straight to the pantry.
-knows how to get our attention to point out what he wants. A few days ago he went to the kitchen then came back to the family room. I asked him what he needed, and he held up his hand and made me come in the kitchen with him, pounded on the pantry door, and when I opened it he pointed to the Cheerios.
-transitioning to one nap. He has been crying through his afternoon nap off and on for awhile. Sometimes I think he is ready to drop it and then he starts taking it again for a few days. But, he finally has consistently not wanted it so I am just pushing his morning nap back to noonish and letting him sleep as long as possible (about 2 hours if I am lucky).
-started going to storytime at Davis Kidd on Thursday and Friday. Its perfect because it falls when his morning nap would be, so it helps keep him occupied and awake longer. He loves it! I would say its mostly song-time and a little bit of story. He learned a new rhyme "Five Monkeys swinging from the tree...etc." When I get to the part about the alligator snapping the monkey out of the tree (the part where you clap your hands) he gets really excited and screams.
-loves music, dancing and singing. He definitely has his favorites. On "If you're happy and you know it" Dad has taught him to say "Bah bah" in between each line of the song. It is so funny. He also loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider, the Wheels on the Bus, and this song about matching animals from a magnet game on my parent's fridge.
-still doing a great job drinking his whole milk, about 4 times per day, all from his straw cups.
-still eating pretty well, mostly whatever we eat. He is going through a little bit of a phase where he will chew some things up and spit them out but for the most part he is OK.
-getting up earlier, around 7. He has been going to bed at around 7:30pm. The time change this past weekend really messed him (and every other kid) up, but he is slowly getting back to normal.
-his words: ball, vroom vroom, brother, bye, mom, dad, light (almost).
-his first sentence "bye bye brother!" which is what he says each time we put Silas in his crate and go somewhere.
-drew me a picture at Mother's Day Out! You can see the masterpiece here:

And here's a picture of him mid-bite at lunch today:

New Carseat!

This season of Will's life is just all about new things. With some of his birthday money we were able to get him a new, convertible carseat. Color? "Cowmooflage".

He seems to be loving it. Although he wasn't at the weight limit of his infant seat, this one has more padding and more protection for his growing body. We are still facing backward right now. I did some research after I heard that pediatricians were recommending that children stay rear-facing until age two. I read some really great articles and watched some you tube videos to help me make the decision to continue rear-facing for now. I don't know if we will leave him rear-facing until age 2, but definitely for awhile longer. (Although he is about 20 pounds, he's still a small fry.) Its something like 5 times safer to face backward...and I figure since he has always faced backward, he doesn't know the difference anyway!
